Empirical Rule of Fruit Rind Fragmentation in Muskmelon Netting

چکیده
The suberized netting tissue on the surface of muskmelons is a remnant rind fragmentation caused by mechanical imbalance between expanding flesh meat and solidified epidermis during growth. appearance this pattern an important indicator for assessing quality muskmelons; however, very few quantitative studies have been conducted geometry netting. This study statistically analyzed areas fine fragments surrounded net using image analysis explored common rule governing probability distribution fragment area. We found that area follows universal law modified Bessel function, which consistent with theoretical argument fracture behavior brittle materials.

Sucrose Metabolism in Netted Muskmelon Fruit during Development.
Sugar content and composition are major criteria used in judging the quality of netted muskmelon (Cucumis melo L. var reticulatus) fruit. Sugar composition and four enzymes of sucrose metabolism were determined in ;Magnum 45' muskmelon fruit at 10-day intervals beginning 10 days after pollination (DAP) until full-slip (35 DAP). Sugar content increased in both outer (green) mesocarp and inner (o...

AIM OF THE STUDY Sun-dried rind of the immature fruit of Punica granatum L. (Punicaceae) (Pg) is presently used as a herbal formulation (OMARIA) in Orissa, India, for the therapy and prophylaxis of malaria. The aims of this study were (i) to assess in vitro the antiplasmodial activity of the methanolic extract, of a tannin enriched fraction and of compounds/metabolites of the antimalarial plant...

متن کاملAntioxidant and hepatoprotective effect of Garcinia indica fruit rind in ethanol-induced hepatic damage in rodents
The protective effects of aqueous extracts of the fruit rind of Garcinia indica (GIE) on ethanol-induced hepatotoxicity and the probable mechanisms involved in this protection were investigated in rats. Liver damage was induced in rats by administering ethanol (5 g/kg, 20% w/v p.o.) once daily for 21 days. GIE at 400 mg/kg and 800 mg/kg and the reference drug silymarin (200 mg/kg) were administ...
متن کاملVolatile Precursors and Aroma-Related Enzyme Activities during Fruit Maturation of Muskmelon
Fatty acids and amino acids serve as ester precursors, in addition to lipoxyaenase (LOX; EC 1.13.11.12), alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH; EC 1.1.1.1) and alcohol o-acyltransferase (AAT; EC 2.3.1.84) activities, were assessed during maturation of climacteric and nonclimacteric muskmelons. The results showed that the levels of the main fatty acids related to aroma formation containing oleic acid, lino...
